"District, Pillars, Networks - Italy and Europe"

The conference tried to analyse the possible interaction between industrial pillars (the major entrepreneurial group) and districts (local productive systems) inside a dynamic influenced by the globalisation process on the one hand and by the liberalisation and privatisation impact on the other hand as well as by the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) development. Particular attention was paid to the possible effects that such interaction of the Italian presence in sectors with higher innovative contents which, far from creating an alternative model to the well known "made in Italy", can and must be an effective complement, far from creating an alternative model to the well known "made in italy". The conference sessions examined in detail the following themes: the interaction between metropolitan areas, local systems and global economy; the dynamic of the internationalisation of the local economic systems, the role of the networks (energy, data processing and transportation) to determine the competitiveness of economic agents; high innovation paradigms. |
